# DuckDuckGo News

Search news with title, URL, source, excerpt, ISO date and image. Page with start in steps of 30. Filter by freshness or date_from: articles outside the filter are removed. Failed requests, and queries with no news, are never charged.

## Authentication

Send your Scrappa API key in the `X-API-KEY` request header. Paid endpoints also support accountless x402 payments when called without an API key.

## Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |

| `q` | string | Yes | News search query (max 499 characters). |
| `start` | integer | No | Result offset in steps of 30 (0, 30, 60...), up to 300. Use next_start from the previous response. Default: 0. |
| `region` | string | No | Region and language as ll-cc, for example de-de. Default: us-en. |
| `safe` | string | No | strict, moderate or off. Default: moderate. |
| `freshness` | string | No | Only articles newer than hour, day, week, month or year. |
| `date_from` | string | No | Only articles published on or after this date, YYYY-MM-DD in UTC. |

## Errors

| Status | Error | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
|  | q is missing, start is not a multiple of 30, or a value is malformed. The request is not charged. |  |
|  | DuckDuckGo is temporarily unavailable or found no news. The request is not charged. Retry shortly. |  |
