# G2 Alternatives API Documentation

<p><strong>G2 Alternatives API</strong> returns the top 10 alternatives of one product. Each alternative has the position, slug, name, URL, image, rating, review count, vendor, description, the price range (<code>price_low</code>, <code>price_high</code>, <code>price_currency</code>), the phrases reviewers use to compare it with your product (<code>compared_to</code>, for example <em>More expensive</em>) and the categories both products share.</p><p>Sponsored placements are never returned. An alternative without a price range returns <code>null</code> for the three price fields. One request makes one lookup and costs one credit. An unknown slug returns 404 and is not billed.</p>

## Authentication

Send your Scrappa API key in the `X-API-KEY` request header. Paid endpoints also support accountless x402 payments when called without an API key.

## Errors

| Status | Error | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 404 | Not Found | The product slug does not exist on G2. This response is not billable. |
| 422 | Validation Error | A parameter is missing or has an invalid value. This response is not billable. |
| 503 | Upstream Unavailable | G2 could not be reached or returned data that does not match the request. This response is not billable and is retryable. |
