# Genius Lookup API Documentation

<p>Resolve any public genius.com URL to the entity behind it. A lyrics URL returns the song, an artist URL returns the artist and an album URL returns the album. Other hosts return a 422 validation error.</p>

## Authentication

Send your Scrappa API key in the `X-API-KEY` request header. Paid endpoints also support accountless x402 payments when called without an API key.

## Errors

| Status | Error | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 404 | Not Found | Genius has no resource for this id or path. This response is not billable. |
| 422 | Validation Error | A parameter is missing or invalid. No upstream request is made. This response is not billable. |
| 503 | Genius Temporarily Unavailable | Genius did not answer in time or the request was blocked. Retry after a short pause. This response is not billable. |
