# idealo Categories API Documentation

Return the idealo.de category tree. Each node has the category ID, the name and its sub categories. is_leaf is true for a category that lists products. Use the IDs with search, deals and shop_products.

## Authentication

Send your Scrappa API key in the `X-API-KEY` request header. Paid endpoints also support accountless x402 payments when called without an API key.

## Errors

| Status | Error | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 422 | Validation Error | Returned when a required parameter is missing or a value is out of range. No credits are charged. |
| 404 | Not Found | Returned when idealo does not know the product, shop or page. No credits are charged. |
| 503 | Service Unavailable | Returned when idealo could not be read after several attempts. Failed requests are not charged. Try again. |
| 502 | Unexpected Response | Returned when idealo answers with a page this API cannot read. Failed requests are not charged. |
