# Motors.co.uk Search API Documentation

Search used cars or vans on Motors.co.uk around a UK postcode: for each vehicle the id, title, make, model, trim, price in GBP, mileage, engine size, body type, colour, fuel type, transmission, registration, dates, distance in miles, image, dealer and the public listing url. Filter by make, model, price, mileage, age, fuel type, body type and transmission. Page with page and page_size; has_more is true while more pages exist. A valid search with no matches is a successful response with an empty results list.

## Authentication

Send your Scrappa API key in the `X-API-KEY` request header. Paid endpoints also support accountless x402 payments when called without an API key.

## Parameters

| `postcode` | string | Yes | UK postcode, e.g. M1 1AE. Example: M1 1AE. |
| `radius` | integer | No | Search radius in miles, 1 to 1000. Defaults to 50. |
| `vehicle_type` | string | No | CAR or VAN. Defaults to CAR. |
| `make` | string | No | Make name from the makes endpoint. Example: Ford. |
| `model` | string | No | Model name from the models endpoint. Needs make. Example: Focus. |
| `min_price` | integer | No | Minimum price in GBP. |
| `max_price` | integer | No | Maximum price in GBP. |
| `max_mileage` | integer | No | Maximum mileage in miles. |
| `max_age` | integer | No | Maximum vehicle age in years. |
| `fuel_type` | string | No | One fuel type, e.g. Diesel, Petrol or Electric. |
| `body_type` | string | No | One body type, e.g. Estate or Hatchback. |
| `transmission` | string | No | Manual or Automatic. |
| `sort` | string | No | PRICE_LOW, PRICE_HIGH, MILEAGE_LOW, MILEAGE_HIGH, AGE_LOW, AGE_HIGH or DISTANCE. Defaults to PRICE_LOW. |
| `page` | integer | No | 1-based page number. Defaults to 1. |
| `page_size` | integer | No | Vehicles per page, 1 to 50. Defaults to 20. |

## Errors

| Status | Error | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 422 | Validation Error | The postcode parameter is missing or invalid, or another parameter is out of range. This response is not billable. |
| 503 | Upstream Unavailable | Motors.co.uk is temporarily unreachable or blocked the request. Retry later; this response is not billable. |
