# PitchBook News API Documentation

<p><strong>PitchBook News API</strong> has two sources. <code>source=tag</code> reads the public feed of a tag, for example <code>venture-capital</code>, with title, link, date and summary. <code>source=articles</code> reads one file of the article sitemap, paged by <code>offset</code> and <code>limit</code>. An unknown tag returns 404 with the code <code>TAG_NOT_FOUND</code>. It is not charged.</p>

## Authentication

Send your Scrappa API key in the `X-API-KEY` request header. Paid endpoints also support accountless x402 payments when called without an API key.

## Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |

| `source` | string | Yes | tag or articles. |
| `tag` | string | No | Tag slug for source=tag. Example: venture-capital. |
| `file` | integer | No | Article sitemap file for source=articles. Default 1. |
| `offset` | integer | No | Start position in the list. Default 0. |
| `limit` | integer | No | Entries per page, 1 to 1000. Default 100. |

## Errors

| Status | Error | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 404 | Tag Not Found | The tag does not exist. This response is not billable. |
| 503 | Upstream Unavailable | PitchBook could not be reached or returned a file that does not match the expected layout. This response is not billable and is retryable. |
