# Substack Post Detail API Documentation

Retrieve a single Substack post by its slug: post ID, title, subtitle, author, publication date (ISO 8601, UTC), like count, comment count, paywall flag and the free post body as HTML plus a plain-text rendering. Only the free body is returned for paywalled posts.

## Authentication

Send your Scrappa API key in the `X-API-KEY` request header. Paid endpoints also support accountless x402 payments when called without an API key.

## Parameters

| `publication` | string | Yes | Substack publication subdomain. Example: slowboring. |
| `slug` | string | Yes | Post slug from the archive or post URL. Example: destroying-the-west-in-order-to-save. |

## Errors

| Status | Error | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 422 | Validation Error | The publication or slug parameter is missing or invalid. This response is not billable. |
| 404 | Post Not Found | The requested Substack post was not found. This response is not billable. |
| 503 | Upstream Unavailable | The Substack post could not be fetched. Failed requests are never billed; retry after a moment. |
