# TikTok Transcript

Get the transcript of a public TikTok video from its captions. Pass a video URL, a short link (vm.tiktok.com, vt.tiktok.com) or a video ID. The response has the full text, timed segments in seconds and every available caption language. Without a language you get the original language. About 30 to 55 percent of videos have no captions; those answer 404 no_captions. Costs 1 credit per request. Failed requests are free.

## Authentication

Send your Scrappa API key in the `X-API-KEY` request header. Paid endpoints also support accountless x402 payments when called without an API key.

## Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `url` | string | No | TikTok video URL or short link. Use either url or video_id. |
| `video_id` | string | No | TikTok video ID (digits only). Use either url or video_id. |
| `language` | string | No | Caption language code such as en, de or en-US. Defaults to the original language of the video. An unavailable language answers 404 language_not_available. |
