# Waze Place Search API Documentation

<p><strong>Waze Place Search API Documentation</strong> Search places and addresses on Waze. Each suggestion has its position, name, display name, address, latitude, longitude, id, type and the highlighted parts of the display name. Paid ads are removed. A call returns up to 10 suggestions; there is no paging. Send lat and lon to bias the suggestions to a point. The region (row, na or il) follows the point, or row when you send no point. A search with no suggestion answers 200 with an empty list and costs no credit. The search takes text only: a coordinate as text returns an empty list, so there is no reverse lookup. Cost: 1 credit per successful search with results.</p>

## Authentication

Send your Scrappa API key in the `X-API-KEY` request header. Paid endpoints also support accountless x402 payments when called without an API key.

## Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |

| `q` | string | Yes | Place or address text, 2 to 100 characters. Example: berlin hauptbahnhof. |
| `lat` | number | No | Latitude of a point to bias the suggestions, -90 to 90. Send it together with lon. |
| `lon` | number | No | Longitude of a point to bias the suggestions, -180 to 180. Send it together with lat. |
| `region` | string | No | Waze region: row (rest of the world), na (North America) or il (Israel). Default: the region of lat and lon, else row. |
| `lang` | string | No | Language code of the suggestions, for example en or de. Optional. |

## Errors

| Status | Error | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 422 | Validation Error | A required query parameter is missing or invalid. This response is not billable. |
| 503 | Service Unavailable | Waze could not be reached, refused the request or changed its answer. This response is not billable. Retry later. |
