# Zalando Categories API Documentation

<p><strong>Zalando Categories API</strong> returns the category tree of a country store. Each node has a name, its <code>key</code> (pass it as <code>category</code> to the search; groups without a key only hold children) and its children. Category keys are written in the language of the country and differ per country. A few entries are campaign pages that the search refuses with 422. <strong>Cost:</strong> 1 credit per successful request. Failed requests are not billed.</p>

## Authentication

Send your Scrappa API key in the `X-API-KEY` request header. Paid endpoints also support accountless x402 payments when called without an API key.

## Parameters

| `country` | string | No | Country store: de (default), at, ch, nl, be, fr, it, es, pl, uk, ie, se, cz, dk, no or fi. SKUs are the same in every country, categories and brand keys are per country. |

## Errors

| Status | Error | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 422 | Validation Error | A parameter is missing or invalid, a filter or category is unknown for the country, or the answer did not match the request. This response is not billable. |
| 503 | Upstream Unavailable | Zalando could not be reached or returned data that does not match the request (another page, another sort). This response is not billable and is retryable. |
