What you can build

Structured data for real applications. Here are some ideas.

Streamer Monitoring and Discovery

Track live status, viewer counts and current game for channels you follow, and discover new channels by keyword.

Content and Clip Analytics

Pull archived VODs and clips with view counts, publication dates and thumbnails for content-performance reporting.

Schedule Publishing

Read a channel broadcast schedule for a given week to power calendar widgets, alerting and programming guides.

Autocomplete and Search UX

Back a Twitch search box with typed channel and category autocomplete, or search channels, games, live streams and VODs in one call.

Twitch scraper API

Read public Twitch channels, streams, VODs and clips as JSON

The Twitch API suits developer teams that need public streaming data without registering a Twitch application or handling OAuth. Every request is anonymous and read-only: there is no login, no chat access and no write surface.

Get a channel profile with follower count and live status; an offline channel is a valid answer, not an error.

List top live streams and games with viewer counts, and page through them with a real cursor.

Read archived VODs page by date window, plus any single VOD or clip by id or slug.

Fetch the broadcast schedule for one week at a time, validated against the requested week.

Search channels, games, live channels and VODs in one request, or use typed autocomplete suggestions.

Every account includes 500 free monthly credits so you can test your target queries first.

Choose the right Twitch API endpoint

Start with the channel endpoint

Resolve a login to a full profile with followers, last broadcast and the current stream. A null stream is how the API reports an offline channel, so branch on that instead of treating it as a failure.

Page VODs by window, clips by cursor

Twitch VOD history does not expose a usable cursor, so the videos endpoint pages through disjoint date windows via the page parameter. Clips, streams, games and search connections do page by cursor.

Always send a clip period

Twitch changes which clips a listing returns depending on the period, so the clips endpoint always sends one explicitly. Pick VIEWS_DESC for top clips and TRENDING for what is rising now.

Frequently asked questions

No. The Twitch API reads public data anonymously. You only need a Scrappa API key, sent as the X-API-KEY header. There is no Twitch login, no OAuth app and no developer registration.

A live channel returns a stream object with the title, viewer count, start time, language and current game. An offline channel returns a null stream, which is a valid answer and is not charged.

Twitch does not expose a usable cursor for VOD history, so the videos endpoint pages through disjoint date windows. Increase the page parameter to walk further back in time. Clips, streams, games and search results do page by cursor.

Twitch returns a different set of clips depending on the period, and the default changes over time. The endpoint always sends the period explicitly so your results never silently shift between all-time and recent clips.

Yes. Pass any date inside the week you want through week_of. Each request returns exactly one week, and the response is validated against that week so you never receive a different week than you asked for.

Just a Scrappa API key passed as an X-API-KEY header. Create a free account, get your key, and start calling the Twitch endpoints immediately.

Yes. Every Scrappa account gets 500 free credits per month with no credit card required, so you can test your target channels, games and search terms before committing to paid usage.

Scrappa charges $0.20 per 1,000 requests with no daily caps and no 429 responses. Failed requests are never charged, and there are no per-record charges; you pay only per API call.
